After 3 months of being known as the limping/sandal wearing member of OLO Worms I finally made it to a podiatrist today to have my ingrown toe looked as. As this is considered big news among the OLO faithful I have made this tribute film to show my brave journey across 2 miles of road and pavement to reach the 'Foot Health Clinic'. The middle section of the film is censored but the original audio is still present.

Here are some tasty treats from Safetyword's acoustic unplugged 'Gentleword' set at the Scotchman and his pack on Saturday. They were recorded on a camera so the quality doesnt do the sound justice. Safe to say that this was one of the best live performances in the history of music (for me anyway) and made all the better with the discovery of 'Green Goblin' cider.

ASH'TOE'N COURT FESTIVAL

Some photos from Ashton Court festival 07. The day before I had been diagnosed with a 'Nail fold infection' at Knowle West NHS Walk In Centre, so I was finding it very hard to walk and was also on pain killers and anti biotics.

Here is the Toe in all its glory........

This is us on our way to the production office to harrass Jenny into giving us backstage wristbands, we were fairly early so the festival hadnt filled out yet.

Once that was sorted we went to see You & The Atom Bomb. By this time I was very dosed up and had had 4 ciders ontop............ I got a bit excited and all thoughts of toe were put aside.

After the great Atom Bomb set, we went to see Robin Allender in the acoustic tent. After a sit down and the return of the throbbing oozing toe I started to feel a bit crap.

After some wedges with cheese sauce, the pills, cider and heat caused me to feel very dizzy and confused so I limped home (getting picked up in Bedmo) and stuck my foot straight in a bucket of hot salty water.

The Live Earth Sessions pt 1 ...... OLO Worms perform Earth song. The session was streamed live to the audience at the Live Earth concert in Germany, where 18 people fainted.

The Live Earth Sessions pt 2 ....... Lionheart and I perform our new song to a receptive, drunk crowd of do gooders. The cameras shy away from our pimpled faces and focus on the crowd enjoyment. Dr Who and Myleene Klass will remember this moment for literally hours.

LLAMA FESTIVAL

Last weekend we played and DJed at the LLAMA festival in Lynton and Lynmouth, North Devon. I couldnt face uploading all the pictures so Ive glued a few together.

VENN FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS 2007

Venn Festival Wristbands. We paid for a cheap ticket that only got us into half of the events. So after unsuccesfully trying to make a white artists wristband with a piece of paper a biro and some bluetac, we got Jenny to colour them in orange using a highlighter pen so that we could go and meet our friends at the other side of the festival.

SJ Esau - played upstairs in the thekla. It was a bit of a squash but well worth it.

Justice Yeldham And The Dynamic Ribbon Device - This was one of the big surprises of the night. Justice attaches a contact mic to a piece of glass then presses it up against his face to pick up the vibrations it makes. Sounds rubbish but it was really entertaining and at times brilliant. The video doesnt really do Justice justice!

Ghostigital - One of the best things Ive seen in a long time.

Some annoying thing in the Arnolfini with Jason from spiritualised. Avent garde art wank with band members facing the wrong way. We left...

After the let down in the Arnolfini we went outside for a break. Some old guys were playing guitars on the deck of a boat just by where we were. After Johnny be goode and brown eyed girl James started to go a bit strange.

We met up with Rozi and Sam at the Cube next. Rozi showed me a new and exciting way of taking portraits of your friends. Im not giving the secret away here though.

Last Friday Cleaner records put on a gig aboard the Jon Sebastian Lightship, moored near the Loisiana in Bristol. What we thought was going to be a rickety old boat turned out to be hiding a fully fledged social club, complete with a stealth team of barmen who looked like darts players. As usual my millions of annoying photos produced only 5 that were in focus..... so here goes.

Some blurry photos from last nights gig at the Louisiana. Not even the combination of a thousand and one smells in a single dark room (me included) were enough to put a dampner on this great night. I hadnt seen SJ Esau before, (though he did a really good podcast for olo radio a few months back) and he was brilliant last night. Really good catchy songs and a great one man band performance using loop pedals, effect boxes and a crash cymbal which he hit with his guitar head. Safetyword were on next and by now the venue was full to bursting point, which was great for the band but made for uncomfortable viewing. They were great though, playing a fantastic new song ( I think) with a great riff at the start, and doing a huge medley nearer the end of all the old favourites. Watch out for a greatest hits album in stores from June (not really..obviously). Atom Bomb had a new one to open with that had the line 'bring us the heads of you and the atom bomb' It worked really well as an introduction, and im a bit partial to such things. 2 other new songs were featured later , well 2 parts of one new song officially. This one was all about drifting off to sleep (part 1) and having erotic thoughts (part 2) but I cant really remember much about it to be honest, not to say that it was unmemorable just that I have got a bad memory. I look forward to hearing their new recorded stuff, which they are starting soon I think. Anyway...more work and less chat...these are the only photos which actually resemble anything...

CLUB AMINO - WATER RATS THEATRE LONDON

This night was certainly worth the trip to London and the joys of National Express and Travelodge combined. There were loads of people I sort of knew there so it was a great chance to get to know them a bit better. Hello to all of you that chatted and danced to Shackademus and Pliers with me and Anneliesa. I won't say much about the music itself other than It was all great. Down the Tiny Steps were the big surprise of the night with a set full of crunchy dancefloor fillers, worth checking out if you ever get the chance.

ONCE MORE UNTO WAR

Twas News Years Eve........... After getting quite drunk on vodka/cider/wine/wii we all went down to meet Gareth who was working at the Robin Hoods Retreat (Did Robin hood visit Bristol much?). The night very quickly collapsed into a heap of champagne, stolen chicken wings, arm wrestling and broken party hats. Here are some pics - lots more here

DELIFINGER'S YEAR IN PICTURES

Time to get all retrospective and sentimental now. I felt like I've done so much this year and had so many memorable times. The 2 years after leaving Uni were a bit hellish to be honest, I felt like I was always worrying about stuff, and at the same time never getting anything done. This year has been great though and it feels like Im finally doing things right. I still dont earn loads of money, and Im still working in a deli. Now though, Ive got a bike, have recorded a cd with Gareth, have made some really nice new friends and lots to look forward to in 2007.

Some of these photos were taken by other people, Ill credit them at the bottom. They show just some of the highlights of the year, leading right up to last week.

Little Emma's masked party - OK she isnt really called little Emma, and I cant remember too much about this party to be honest but the year seemed to start with lots of lock-ins at the old duke pub (whatever happened to those). This was one of the most interesting of those lock-ins, and the only one we were actually invited too.

Pittenweem beach - On the first day of the Fence Homegame festival, we awoke at our campsite, got ready and set out on the 2-3 mile walk to Anstruther. At the halfway mark we stopped in the village of Pittenweem for lunch, then decided to finish the journey along the beach (thinking it was a short cut) . Several cliffs, large pebbles (Gareth still has one) and rock pools the size of swimming pools later we arrived at Anstruther where we went to the nearest pub and played pool against a mad scottish man.

Secret hat - On one of the strangest nights out we have ever had, we made a small hat out of a falafel wrapper and put it on James' head without him knowing. On the same night, James kissed a poodle, we sang the proclaimers accapella in Renatos, and hurt our hands banging the table when the theme to Eastenders came on the sound system.

Breakfast In Lynbridge - I was being sick at the time, but everyone else enjoyed a slap up breakfast in a David Lynch style caravan. We were there for the Lynton and Lynmouth festival, which we were Djing at for the weekend. James N broke the fridge and toilet door handle, we all had an almighty row on a picnic table at 2 in the morning, the world cup was on and we got to play music to the easiest and most fun audience ever on the village green.

The aftershow party - You and the atom bomb had an album launch at the croft. It was reeeeeeaaaaaaaally good fun and afterwards we went to their house for a party. With about 40 people crammed in their tiny garden, the noise levels were a bit 'undesirable' for the neighbour who came out in her dressing gown to announce that her daughter had to be taken to the airport in the morning. Poor Lady.

James Nation had a birthday - In Weston Super Mare. It was a hot summers day, and we DIDNT make a sand castle. Infact, we found one and destroyed it, me and Gareth banging heads in the process. Other highlights involved a go on the dodgems, the vintage Weston timewarp seafront bar, complete with disco corner and vest wearing fat barman, playing football until it hurt (about 2 minutes in) and kicking the aformentioned football into the sea from the grand peer. We lost the football to those greasy Portugese as well ( I love them really).

Outside my house - Living so far away from everyone else, its quite rare to have people over, so it was really nice when almost everybody turned up on my birthday for a barbeque. It rained....but never mind.

Cleaner records at the scout hut - This was one of favourite gigs of the year. It was completely acoustic, as the hut is tiny inside, and it was like one big quiet happy family. I wont bore you with the details too much because I posted on here about it at the time so you can read about it there if you want. Whalebone Polly were amazing though. Hope I get to see them again one day.

Being sick in London - We had got to London at about 3.30 I think then after meeting up with James H's friend we went straight to a pub called the Albert. A weird chain of events led to me djing for 2 hours, using the old vinyl that was piled up in the corner. After getting quite merry on cider and excitement, we headed off to an old tv studio to watch the Animal Collective. After getting lost then Queuing for an hour we finally got inside. After the gig me and James N sat in a back stage bar area until 4am while James H wandered around. When we left, James found some pointy shoes in the road outside a house. He knocked on the door and an old man answered, they had a small conversation then James left with the shoes. We then walked lost across the whole of central london using the river to navigate.....and I was sick in it. Then we got the coach home.

The end - at least we thought it was for us. You can smell the fear.

MR WOLFS CHRISTMAS PARTY TIME

Tuesday the 12th of September was the You and the Atom Bomb / Safetyword + special guests christmas party at Mr Wolfs. We were there as part of the special guests, with OlO Radio slinging the christmas hits throughout the night inbetween bands. Most of (nearly all of infact) the duties were taken care of by boonbeans because the other three of us had more pressing matters to occupy our thoughts. Tonight was the debut performance of the OlO Worms live department, playing our original christmas composition Joyeux Noel From Hell.

James and Gareth were there from the small hours decorating and preparing the venue, the highlight of which was the wall of stockings, all filled with xmas goodies and baddies.

It was fancy dress so we all dressed up as crash victims/spacemen/superheroes/doctors (and I mean all 4 mixed in to 1 costume) I didnt actually get any proper pics of us, but expect some to appear soon.

Safetyword started the night off with their christmas song about placentas. Their costumes were amazing....kind of bald moustached zealots with foil buttons/hats as you can see in the pics of Steve and Rob above.

Rachael and Rozi played Rachael's christmas song Every Year a beautiful banjo led moment of warm seasonal joy, performed under the aliases Rachyule dadd and Frosty Plain.

Finally Yule and the Advent Bomb played an amazing end to the live music, with their sure fire hit baby its chritmas. I havent seen them play for about 3 or 4 months and its clear I've missed out on a lot. Ieuan looked the best in his red lycra and cycle helmet combo, providing the most 'strangely uncomfortable to look at yet pleasing to the eye' costume of the night.

I will post seperately about the OlO performance once Ive got the photos and video to accompany. For now though....... a big thanks to everyone who turned up/helped out/played/clapped and organised. Bless you all.

Went to see Rachael Dadd at Mr Wolfs with Jimmytendo last night. It was really nice, as ever, with Rachael trying out some 'one man band' styles using a footpedal tamborine and a mouth organ. Mr Wolfs is much tinier than I remember which is a bit reassuring seeing as we are going to be performing our first gig (well one song) there before christmas. We will playing as part of You and the atom bomb's yuletide shindig alongside safetyword and people from cleaner records (Rachael, Rozi and Roman). Please come.... all ye faithful!

TUNNG GIG AT THE CROFT

Me and 'her indoors' went to the croft to see Tunng supported by Nancy Elizabeth Cunliffe and Jill Barber on saturday.

Nancy kind of sounded a bit like Rose Kemp but stuck to accoustic instruments mainly harp and guitar. It was quite nice all in all and everyone was being quiet in the venue which makes a change.

Jill Barber was great..... providing a blues, folk, country soundtrack that I would usually wince away from the mention of. She did simple folky lyrics over country guitar accompanied by a great guitarist who was doing some nice reverb effects and bottle neck sliding. She talked loads aswell which is always a winner for me.

Next the Band with the stupidist name in the history of bands. Tunng were as good as I expected them although the venue didnt do them any favours. The samples/beats didnt real sit too comfortably over the acoustic guitars and vocal harmonies, more than likely down to the acoustics of the room or a bad sound engineer. That aside though, its geat seeing them put it all together live as the songs sound so intricate and complicated on record. The female singer played a plastic butterfly and a wooden woodpecker on 2 of the songs. The stuff dreams are made of.....Hippy dreams anyway.

This gig was on Wednesday at the Trinity Centre. I really enjoyed Francois as it was the first time I had seen him playing with his band and it sounded great especially the opener, with all its la la las. James Yorkston was the most animated I have ever seen him, he swayed and moved all the way through some old favourites and some of his new songs which sounded great. I think standing up is the future for JY, and long may it last.

Last night Resonance 104FM, a london based radio station played 'I know' from the bumble bee ep. This is the first time an olo worms track has been played on conventional radio so it was very exciting. Thanks to Boonbeans for recording it, and for sending the demo off in the first place.

This was a weird night
Jeff booked out the Louisiana for his birthday.
Safetyword, Countryside, Los Conios and Manic F all played mini sets upstairs so that Jeff could have a good old dance along. During Los Conios, Jeff joined the band on stage to dance and sing. On their penultimate song he undid his shirt and lowered his trousers to display his sweaty shiny torso and sweaty not shiny boxershorts. The night ended with Manic F - Jeffs own musical project. See the latter part of the video for an idea of what this was like, though you really had to be there.

Here is a video of safetyword performing their last song. You can just make out that Jeff keeps turning round whenever the door opened to see who was coming in. He said he was worried about not breaking even for the £160 the booking had cost him. Money schmoney oh vey! Sounds a bit weird this one because my wee microphone cant cope with the loud noises.

The Parents
This oldie was made up mainly from samples with the exception of the guitar riff and some synth put through a zoom effects pedal. I had just got the DJ Shadow album - The Private Press at the time and reckon I'm guilty of trying to rip it off a bit here.

Nothing To See
This is another one that I did in my second year an uni. I was trying to write my first proper song so the result is a bit corny and lacking in substance. I love some of the drum samples that I stole though. I think there is a bit of Ringo in there and I do remember wanting the drums to sound a bit like they do on Let It Be, hmmmm oh well. Its about nosey neighbours I seem to recall.

A RIGHT OLD COCKER'KNEES UP

On our trip to the big city at the weekend we went for a drink in a cockney boozer called the George. Some guy came over and put a carpenters record on and asked me keep an eye on it. Anyway.....1 thing let to another and I ended up playing a 2 hour long set using the piles of dusty scratched charity shop vinyl they had kept behind the decks. In between pints of magners I 'pleasured' the pubgoers with such camp classics as tainted love, get into the groove, rocket man and even lets go fly a kite from the mary poppins soundtrack. After realising that the guy who had asked me to mind the decks has fled into the night about an hour earlier, and feeling slightly taken advantage of, we headed for the door after blasting out a song from the sound of music soundtrack as our goodbye. A very enjoyable yet slightly random and surreal experience.

While moaning that the tube stations, and all fast food emporiums were closed, James decided to take a nap on the wall of the river thames at 6am. We ended up walking 5 miles from cable street to victoria station after seeing the animal collective, only making our coach by hailing a cab for the last 3/4 of a mile. After a quick snooze on the coach, I awoke to find a pair of leather winkle pickers in my bag. We think that we took them from outside a house that James knocked on at 5 in the morning to ask if there was a party (based on the fact that there were balloons outside). The man that answered very calmly and politely informed James that there wasnt a party. Anyway here is a video of that ever so comfortable nap taking, filmed just before I was sick in the river.

DOGBITERABIES

This is a recording of a new Romanhead song from the cleaner records cleaner transport tour. It was originally intended as a video but the image was too dark due to it being in a candlelit scout hut. The song features Rozi Plain and Rachael Dadd providing backing. There is a fair bit of background noise due to the auto focus on the camera and sneezes and scratching from the audience.

CLEANER RECORDS TOUR

The first night of the cleaner records - cleaner transport tour took place in an old scout hut near the ostrich pub in Bristol last night. I thought it was one of the best local gigs I have ever been to. The music sounded just about as good as it could have, with all acts playing completely unplugged. Whalebone Polly and Romanhead were the highlights for me, with new songs (maybe written whilst in greenland, I dunno) from Romanhead proving to be instant favourites. Rozi Plain was as good as always, and her songs sounded even better than usual in the quiet surroundings. I'm really coming round to Greg Ashby aswell, and I thought his woody guthrie-billy bragg cover was outstanding. The scouthut itself was a great venue, brimming with tweeness and creaking with age.
